THE 1854 SHAKER SEED HOUSE is significant as a center piece of Tyringham Valley Shaker's history.
One hundred twelve years later the same home that was used for sorting and packing seeds became home to Jean Brown and the Jean Brown Archives.  SHAKER SEED HOUSE became a weekend Mecca for artists and scholars from around the world. There are only 20 original Shaker homes currently in private hands.

The main room with fireplace encompasses one half of the first floor allowing for multiple seating areas and or dining and living combined.  A large room off the eat-in kitchen is currently used as a den; however, it is a blank canvas for the next Owner's needs.
The house is wonderful for a large family or lots of weekend guests.  There are three bedrooms off to the right of the second floor sitting area.  They have their own vestibule and a full bath which feels private and separates nicely from the master quarters.  There are three bathrooms in the house, not the norm for a home of this vintage.

The attic is a treasure. Huge with wonderful beams and windows.  It is unfinished at this time but holds promise
for a well conceived future.
